About Troop 15

Troop 15 is a very friendly and inclusive troop. Boys who visit us tell us that they immediately feel at home with us. Every boy is an important part of the group. You won’t feel “lost in a crowd” at Troop 15. Our scouts come from a variety of schools and surrounding communities, and they enjoy making new friends.

We take pride in the quality of our program. We are truly a boy-led troop that implements the principles of the Boy Scouts of America. Our adult troop leaders guide and support our scouts, but our scouts set their own agenda and are responsible for following-through on their plans. Our active Troop Committee handles administrative details and offers support to the Scoutmaster and his assistants.

Our boys enjoy many activities. Past events include camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming, archery, rock wall climbing, environmental studies, and STEM-related studies. Community service is also an integral part of the program.

Parents are always welcome to attend troop meetings and outings, and if they are interested in a deeper level of involvement, they are encouraged to join the Troop Committee or serve as Merit Badge Counselors. Parents are also welcome to take training that will allow them to serve in various adult leadership roles if they wish.

Our chartered organization is Grace United Methodist Church in Joliet. They very graciously provide us with a place to meet, and in return we serve as good citizens and stewards of the facility they allow us to use. Our boys cheerfully “give back” by including Grace in their community service plans for the year.

The best way to get to know us is to visit us. Please contact our Committee Chair to schedule a visit, or contact our Scoutmaster if you have questions about the troop or BSA.
